He likes me but doesnt want to be in a relationship?

So i met him three years ago. I was dating someone and well he was well sleeping with eny biggest whore...Any who one day we went out to the movies and we clicked. Last fall after going thru alot of stuff. Not really talking (Due to my wow addiction) We stop dating then i left for college. I came home in april and it was like we never broke up. (He is a immigrant) He tells me earlier this month that he has to get married to get his green card. I volunteered but then he tells me that he has to do it with his ex. (Been working for about a year or so not enough work tax credit im guessing or not making enough to support both of us.) Then this past saturday he tells me he is getting married in two weeks. So i figure id wait till everything comes thur for him....No big deal right wrong. I asked him are we going to be together after he gets sworn in and he tells me " Yes but i still want to be single. I have been hurt and i don't want to be hurt like that again" I didn't know how to respond so i just said "Oh okay" But i really don't know how to take this. I would understand why he wouldn't want to get married again but to not be with me...I am a good person and i have stood by him (excluding going to school) I called him everyday while i was away for school he even came back with me so i could take my finals. Overall im confused and i really like him alot and the feeling is mutual. He isn't distant or anything. Maybe im over thinking things or maybe i should see this as a warning sign but he is the first person since my 8th grade crush that i liked and didn't lose interest in. Im 23 and he will be 25 what do i do????
