Right i wanna know if i jailbreak my ipod will i lose all my stuff and will i be able to get them back? xxx?

because my friend said if i jailbreak my ipod i wont be able to use itunes anymore but i wanna know if that's true because my friend hasn't jail broken her ipod but that what she said so is she right or wrong eny suggestions xxx
